Matt Vaadi moved to South Carolina in 2010 for a job with a large corporation. Early on, he called the corporate office seeking a few hundred dollars to sponsor a local nonprofit event. "We just don’t get involved at the local level," was the response he received.
This conversation stuck with Matt, as he and his family were putting down roots in their new community. For them, that meant supporting important causes and being part of a company that shared their commitment. However, when Matt was unable to find a provider in his industry that aligned with these values, he decided to create his own.
Matt founded Guhroo with a mission-driven approach. Today, Guhroo gives five percent of company revenues back to local charities through an innovative philanthropic model. This includes three percent of all revenue, one percent of Guhroo's product donations, and one percent of employee time volunteered through company initiatives.
Most importantly, Guhroo helps nonprofits attract and retain top talent even with limited budgets. This allows charitable groups to dedicate more resources to their important work, thanks to the affordable, boutique-level services Guhroo provides. It was a vision sparked by Matt's desire to see business truly invest in the communities it serves.
